A hard layer of cover out of earth is called earth-crust which is composed of natural mineral elements, containing nonmetal elements (such as oxygen, silicon and so on) and metal elements (such as iron, copper and lead and so on).
Metal ores are normally divided into four types:
1) Natural metal ores, such as gold, silver, copper and platinum and so on. Those metals exist in the metal ores as single elements. In nature, except the above four types of ores, there are few natural metal ores that holds the grade for industrial mining.
2) Oxidized ores, such as hematite, magnetite, pyrolusite, zigueline, zincite, cerusite whose elements are oxide, carbonate and sulphate.
3) Sulfide ores, such as chalcopyrite, gelenite, sphalerite, molybdenite whose elements are sulfide.
4) Mixed ores. They are created by mixing the above two or more ores.
Ores are divided into four types according to their metal types:
1) Ferrous metal, such as iron, manganese, chromium and so on. The granule of those metals is black.
2) Non-ferrous metal ores, such as copper, zinc, lead, tin, tungsten whose granules are non-ferrous.
3) Precious metal ores, such as gold, silver and platinum which has good stability and high price.
4) Rare metal ores, such as niobium, tantalum and beryllium which are rare in nature so that they are very expensive.
